Massage Therapy

CIRCA Massage Therapy offers various types of massage/ bodywork therapies to relax, rejuvenate, repair and balance your body.  Sessions are 30, 55 and 90 minutes in duration. Choose from our wide array of massage therapies.

  • Amma- meaning push-pull, is based on the principles of Qi (pronounced chi) being a life force energy that flows through the body. Amma promotes and balances the free flow of Qi through the body. By harmonizing the free flow of qi, the body is able to heal itself, as well as prevent bad health in the future.
  • Acupressure- bodywork technique based on the same ideas as acupuncture. It involves placing physical pressure on the surface of the body to bring about relief through greater balance and circulation of energies in the body (qi). It is intended to affect and balance the energetic system of the body in order to treat the human body, mind, emotions, energetic fields, and spirit.
  • Swedish- This style utilizes long, flowing strokes, often but not necessarily in the direction of the heart. Swedish massage is designed to increase circulation and blood flow. Using techniques such as stroking, kneading, tapotement, vibration and friction, the therapist can enhance health and body awareness as well as assist in recovery from injuries
  • Deep Tissue/Sports Massage- Deep tissue techniques are generally designed for more focused massage work. Working a specific joint, muscle or muscle group, the practitioner can access deeper layers of the soft tissue. Starting superficially and easing into the depth of the muscle slowly often allows more movement
  • Hot Stone- Hot stone massage is a specialty massage that uses smooth, heated stones. They are often basalt, a black volcanic rock that absorbs and retains heat well.  It is a deeply soothing, relaxing form of massage. The heat helps tight muscles release.  *Before you arrive, the massage therapist sanitizes the stones and heats them in 120 and 150 degree water.
  • Trigger Point Therapy- A trigger point is an area of a muscle that refers pain sensations to other parts of the body. Trigger Point Therapy applies pressure to these points leading to immediate release of tension and improved muscular functioning
  • Aromatherapy- Focuses on the application and inhalation of essential oils (distilled essences of plants obtained primarily through steam). These are combined with carrier oils (cold-pressed from fruit, nut or seed sources) before being applied to the skin
  • Foot Reflexology- as practiced by the Chinese is performed in the context of chi, in that each spot on the sole of the foot corresponds to an internal organ, and the applied therapy is healing to one's overall well being. The theory supposes that an ailment of an internal organ will be associated with the nerve ending on the sole of the foot
  • Medical Massage- Performing medical massage requires a firm background in pathology and utilizes specific treatments appropriate to working with disease, pain, and recovery from injury. The therapist may work from a physician’s prescription or as an adjunct healer within a hospital or physical therapy setting
  • Scalp Massage- focuses on releasing tension in the scalp, face and neck with the application of  Trigger Point, Swedish, and Acupressure Technique.  The goal is to relax, release and move energy out to the body.
